(Solved Book Problems) Problem 12, chapter – Shear Force and Bending Moment, SOM by Dr. R K Bansal – A simply supported beam of length 8 m carries point loads of 4 kN, 10 kN, and 7 kN at a distance of 1.5 m, 2.5 m and 2.0 m respectively from the left end A. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagrams of the beam.

Problem:

A simply supported beam is carrying a uniformly distributed load of 2 kN/m over a length of 3 m from the right end. The length of the beam is 6 m. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagrams of the beam and also calculate the maximum bending moment on the section.

(Solved Book Probems) Problem 12, chapter – Shear Force and Bending Moment, SOM by Dr. R K Bansal)

Solution:

End support reactions are: Vertical Reactions, Rl = 1.5 , and Rr = 4.5
Moment Reactions are Ml = 0 m and Mr = 0 m

udl shear and moment nodes are [1.5] and [4.5]m

Mmax = 5.07 kN/m
